Dandy Blend "Latte" (sans coffee)
BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR LONG TERM HEALTH
Optimal digestion is a KEY step in building a solid foundation for optimal health.
One of the great things about smoothies & drinks is that the blender does some of the hard work for you in breaking down the food putting less stress on the digestive system.
Even if you’re drinking a juice or smoothie however, be sure to swish it around your mouth a bit. Let it take its time to get your salivary glands and digestive enzymes going to support the digestive system and prepare the stomach for it’s job.
2 ingredients in my Dandy Blend “Latte” will give your digestive system and extra boost -
Cinnamon + Coconut oil
Cinnamon may help fight common allergy symptoms because it’s been shown to reduce inflammation and fight histamine reactions.
Coconut oil can help improve bacteria and gut health by destroying bad bacteria and candida. Coconut oil’s anti-microbial properties activate once triglycerides (fats) are converted into monoglycerides and free fatty acids in the digestive tract. All of this leads to improved digestion and nutrient absorption (fat soluble vitamins such as calcium and magnesium). The healthy fats in coconut oil have an effect that weakens the membrane of the ‘bad’ bacteria to the point that it disintegrates and dies.
Coconut oil is incredibly moisturizing on your skin, so think about the wonders it could do in lubricating your insides. It’s great to help get digestion moving especially if you are lacking healthy fats in your diet. Who doesn’t want to be regular ;)
If you just came for the recipe…
There are so many fancy names for coffee…and TBH I don’t know what half of them are because I’m not a coffee drinker. I always see the word “latte” but never actually knew what it really was. (don’t judge lol)
SO according to the dictionary :
lat·te
/ˈlätā/
noun
a type of coffee made with espresso and hot steamed milk, milkier than a cappuccino.
This is my version…. sans the coffee!
*if you don’t have Dandy Blend on hand and only use cocoa powder you may want to add a bit more milk, or even a bit of water.
AND FOR A COOL TREAT
mocha
[moh-kuh]
noun
a flavoring obtained from a coffee infusion or a combined infusion of chocolate and coffee.
again here is my version of a Mocha (sans the coffee.)
You might be wondering WHY I keep naming these drinks after different types of coffee… the secret is the Dandy Blend! It has the flavour of coffee with out the caffeine + many health benefits!
